- 1983-1985 began learning massage informally from a professional therapist friend while earning a bachelor’s degree from Marshall University, Huntington, WV
- 1985-1986 Massage Therapist at the Huntington, West Virginia YMCA
- 1987-1992 owned and operated the Being Well Center in Huntington, West Virginia
- 1987 40 hour intensive in Shiatsu from Wataru Ohashi
- 1988 Certification in Neuromuscular Therapy from Paul St. John
- 1987-1989 Founding President of the West Virginia Chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association
- 1988-1991 Marshall University graduate program in Athletic Training & Sports Medicine
- 1988-1991 athletic trainer for Marshall University Football and Track and Field teams
- 1989 appointed to be a member of the American Massage Therapy Association committee to develop the national certification exam (what became the NCETMB test)

- 1997-today: private practice in Boulder, CO with primarily triathletes and cyclists

** At the Ironman Sports Medicine Conference with the one and only “Dr. Bob”. Dr. Bob Laird, now in the Ironman Hall of Fame, was the founder of the conference and founding medical director for the Ironman World Championship. He was also one of my favorite teachers ever.
I attended the week-long conference 25 years in a row, learning from some of the most cutting-edge reserarchers in sports medicine, exercise physiology, and nutrition from all over the world.
